JALANDHAR: Families of of four
gallantry award-winning martyrs
have alleged they had been facing injustice in the hands of lawmakers for several years and no job had been provided to their kins.
Addressing a press conference here widows of Naik Dhian Singh, Naib Subedar Baldev Raj, Major H P S Sandhu and Lt. Joga Singh, who were given gallantry awards in 1992, 1992, 1994 and 1998 respectively said that an anomaly in the policy was not rectified and they continued to face indifference from the government. All the four lost their lives in anti-terror operations.
They pointed out that the Ashoka Chakra series was left out in the "honour and gratitude" policy framed by the Punjab government in 1999 for family members of martyred soldiers. As per this policy, the government provided jobs to families of soldiers martyred pre and post January 1, 1999. They said the policy was not amended despite recommendation by director soldier board and secretary defence services welfare, Punjab. They informed they tried to meet the then Punjab CM
Parkash Singh Badal but could not. They now plan to take up the issue with incumbent Captain
Amarinder Singh.

Jasjeet Sandhu
said that her son completed B Tech and after lots of efforts, he was being offered job of a constable. Lt. Joga Singh's on Gulshan Singh said that it was wrong to discriminate among the martyrs and their gallantry awards.
