AMRITSAR: The sudden visit of member of Parliament Dr. Dharamvir Gandhi ahead of Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s visit to Amritsar on Monday and holding a meeting at the house of Dr. Daljit Singh along with volunteers of Aam Aadmi Party Volunteers Front (AAPVF) took everyone by surprise with many speculating about some possible new equations in political arena to unfold in near future.
However, clarifying about his visit, Gandhi told TOI that he was here to visit village Thathgarh and meet dalit families who were subjected to brutal torture of the kind of medieval ages by a former sarpanch and his goons.
Dr. Dharamvir Gandhi is suspended from AAP while Dr. Daljit Singh, former Chairman, Disciplinary Committee, AAP, Punjab was expelled for anti-party activities.
Gandhi said that he visited Tathgarh village, near Amritsar and met Balwant Singh, his family members and others.
"About three week ago, Balwant Singh was tied to a tree, beaten with a shoe and later he was asked to spit and lick by a former sarpanch who enjoys political shelter”.
He said he would take up the issue in Parliament seeking strict action against those responsible for the incident including administrative and police personals.
AAPVF Punjab president Sumit Singh Bhullar said that this incident was a blotch on the state government. “Such kind of tortures is unheard in present days” he said.
Meanwhile, Bhullar informed that they were accompanied by Jassi Jasraj, who would meet Arvind Kejriwal on Monday at Golden Temple seeking answer for his expulsion from the party. “Jassi had met Kejriwal during his last visit but he didn’t give any satisfactory reply, he will again ask Kejriwal as to why he was expelled from party.
Notably, in April, AAP had expelled Jassi for six years for his alleged anti party activities. “This visit can’t be a sudden one but pre-planned. Ahead of Kejriwal visit, I am not sure but we should expect something new coming out of meeting held at Dr. Daljit Singh’s house,” said a AAP’s leader seeking anonymity.
