Woman climbs water tank amid marital dispute

Prayagraj: Panic gripped the Basna Nala area of Phaphamau on Saturday after a woman climbed atop a high water tank and threatened to end her life, drawing a massive crowd and triggering a tense rescue operation by the police.The woman in her mid-twenties, identified as Pallavi Singh, reportedly took the extreme step around 2pm amid an ongoing dispute with her husband, Mohammad Alam, who had filed a fraud case against her.Sources said the couple had been at loggerheads for a long time over issues related to property and personal belongings, with complaints lodged by both sides.According to eyewitnesses, the woman said that she would not come down until the case registered against her was withdrawn. She also reportedly went live on social media from the top of the tank, further escalating the situation and attracting onlookers.Police teams from Phaphamau police station rushed to the scene and initiated efforts to persuade her to descend safely. Despite continuous persuasion, she remained adamant for over four hours.Senior police officials, including the area ACP, were present at the site and engaged in dialogue with her. She was assured that her complaint would be examined and action would be taken as per law.
