Prayagraj: A day after seven cows died and 11 others injured when the truck carrying cattle overturned near Paschim Nara area on Thursday night,
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (Gau Raksha wing) on Friday demanded slapping of Gangster Act cases on people involved in cow smuggling and slaughtering.
Holding an important meeting at Kydganj, regional secretary (Kashi Prant -Gau Raksha Wing), Lal Mani Tiwari, said VHP would launch a mass agitation if police fail to act.
Tiwari asserted that a massive agitation would be launched if the miscreants involved in the cow smuggling were not arrested.
He added that cow slaughtering will not be tolerated at any cost.
VHP leaders claimed that over the past two years, there were several cases of cattle smuggling and slaughtering by racketeers across different police station areas, but police failed to tighten the noose around them.
