Non-compliance: Kashi police commissioner to appear in HC
Prayagraj: Taking serious note of non-compliance of court's order, Allahabad High Court directed police commissioner, Varanasi to appear on Jun 11 with his detailed explanation of non-conclusion of enquiry against an employee despite court’s order.Justice Prakash Padia was hearing contempt petition filed by Param Hans Gupta, an employee in Varanasi police department, who was placed under suspension. It was alleged in the contempt petition that despite court's directive dated Sep 17, 2025 to complete departmental enquiry within stipulated time or else to reinstate the employee, the enquiry was not completed within the stipulated time, nor was he reinstated, after which he filed the present contempt petition.Counsel for the petitioner argued that the aforesaid judgment dated Sep 17 has already been duly and fully complied with by the petitioner but for reasons best known to the opposite party, neither any disciplinary proceedings were concluded within the time prescribed in the aforesaid judgment nor the order of suspension dated Nov 10, 2024 was revoked. It was further contended by the counsel for the petitioner that in large number of cases, such orders were passed by this court from time to time but none of them were complied with by the opposite party in Varanasi and other districts too.Taking serious note, Justice Padia, directed in his Jun 9 order registrar (compliance) to communicate copy of this order to , Varanasi police commissioner Mohit Agarwal through chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Varanasi on Wednesday.
