AU rolls out online document process

Prayagraj: In a major relief to students, Allahabad University has approved a fully online system for applying and issuing key academic documents, including provisional degrees, final degrees and migration certificates.The decision was taken during a recent academic council meeting chaired by the Vice-Chancellor Prof Sangeeta Srivastava marking a significant step towards digitisation of university services.After the new system is in place, students will no longer need to make repeated visits to the campus or stand in long queues at multiple counters to obtain essential documents. Instead, they will be able to apply online through a dedicated portal from the comfort of their homes. Once the required formalities are completed, the documents will be issued digitally, saving both time and effort.University officials said the move will particularly benefit students living in remote districts or outside the state, who often face logistical challenges in travelling to Prayagraj for documentation work. By eliminating the need for physical presence, the initiative is expected to make the process more efficient and student-friendly.One of the key highlights of the new system is the integration of the ‘no-dues’ verification process. Earlier, students had to visit multiple departments such as libraries, hostels and administrative offices to obtain clearance certificates, often leading to delays in receiving their final degrees. Under the revised mechanism, the verification of pending dues will be completed in advance, even before the final marksheet is issued.Officials believe that this streamlined process will significantly reduce delays and enhance transparency in the system. It will also minimise paperwork and reduce the burden on administrative staff.The university administration expressed confidence that the digital initiative will not only simplify procedures but also strengthen students’ trust in the institution by ensuring timely and hassle-free delivery of important academic documents.
