Allahabad remembers Bhagat Singh on 83rd death anniversary

ALLAHABAD: Rich tributes were paid to the brave martyrs of the freedom struggle — Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev — on Sunday. These men sacrificed their lives on the altar of motherland in 1931 on March 23.
The people lay flowers on the portraits of the three patriots and children sang patriotic songs. The police also offered a gun salute to the revolutionaries.

Children from primary and secondary schools staged cultural programmes too.
The district magistrate and chief guest P Guru Prasad said the sacrifice of these men would inspire the coming generations in the path of patriotism.
Jai Hind foundation also paid tributes to the martyrs. Volunteers lit torches and waved the national flag. People took the pledge of respecting one another and take holistic steps for eradication of terrorism and corruption from the country. They also promised to incorporate the values of sacrifice, selfless service and bravery as shown by the great trio.
Meanwhile, a programme was organised at Kydganj in which regional corporator Kiran Jaiswal said, “It is pathetic that though 83 years have been passed after the hanging of the great martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, they have not been recognized as martyrs (shaheed)”.
A poetic symposium was organized at Allahabad Museum to pay tributes to the memory of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev and convey the message of peace and brotherhood.
