Woman in shared auto robbed of gold worth Rs 4L
Ahmedabad: A 38-year-old homemaker was allegedly robbed of gold jewellery worth over Rs 4 lakh by four men in a shared autorickshaw after she arrived in the city from Keshod. Khokhra police have registered a case and are looking for the accused.
According to the complaint filed on Saturday by the woman who lives in Vastral, the crime occurred around 7am on May 24 after she arrived at the Geetamandir bus terminus from Keshod. She boarded a shared autorickshaw for Vastral. One passenger was already seated and two more men boarded as the auto proceeded.
The complainant told police she was wearing a gold necklace weighing about 20.5g valued at approximately Rs 3.1 lakh, along with three gold rings weighing around 7.5g collectively and worth about Rs 1 lakh.
When the autorickshaw reached near Hatkeshwar crematorium, the driver allegedly noticed the jewellery and demanded that she hand it over. When she resisted, the three passengers allegedly joined the driver. One of them allegedly slapped her and threatened to kill her.
Fearing for her safety, she handed over the jewellery. She was allegedly forced her out of the moving autorickshaw near Hatkeshwar.
