Western Railway expands radio cab services to Maninagar, Vatva stations
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Division of Western Railway has expanded its last-mile connectivity initiative by introducing radio cab services and integrated mobility solutions at Maninagar and Vatva railway stations in city, following the success of similar facilities at Ahmedabad Junction and Sabarmati stations.
Railway officials said the initiative aims to make travel smoother, faster and more convenient for passengers arriving at or departing from key railway hubs in the city by improving access to app-based cab, auto and bike services.
According to railway officials, Sabarmati station has emerged as a major centre for first and last-mile connectivity with the launch of a dedicated radio cab Traveller’s Lounge.
Since Oct 2025, the Sabarmati facility has handled more than 1.5 lakh bike rides, over two lakh auto rides and more than one lakh cab bookings, officials said.
At Ahmedabad junction, another integrated transit hub managed by a radio cab operator has been introduced to streamline passenger movement and ensure seamless onward connectivity. The facility includes a dedicated assistance kiosk, on-ground support staff, an elevated parking zone directly connected to the foot overbridge, and organised boarding management for more than 1.10 lakh passengers using the station daily.
Officials said that since Sep 2025, the Ahmedabad junction transit hub has recorded over 10 lakh cab bookings, underlining the growing reliance on app-based mobility services for station access and onward travel.
Encouraged by the response from passengers, the railway authorities have now decided to extend similar connectivity solutions to Maninagar and Vatva stations as part of efforts to strengthen urban mobility and improve passenger convenience across Ahmedabad’s railway network.
