GU exam dates likely to change amid possible civic polls
Ahmedabad: Gujarat University has planned an extensive schedule of exams across various faculties during April and May. However, uncertainty prevails as the state is likely to announce municipal corporation elections during the same period, creating confusion among students and university authorities.
According to sources, if polling is conducted in the first or second week of May, the university may be forced to make significant changes to the final phase of its exam schedule. Many affiliated colleges are used as polling stations, and staff members are often assigned election duties, which can disrupt the smooth conduct of exams.
The university already completed the first phase of exams and announced dates for the second phase. As per the schedule, from April 2, Semester 6 exams under the old choice-based credit system (CBCS) will be conducted for repeater students. Additionally, repeater exams for Semester 5 under the New Education Policy (NEP) will also begin on the same day.
From April 16, exams will commence for regular Semester 6 students studying under NEP, along with repeater exams for Semester 4 under CBCS. The final phase will begin on April 26 with Semester 2 exams for first-year students. A large number of exams are scheduled from April 24, while additional Semester 2 exams for courses like BA and BCom will start from May 5.
Overall, the exam cycle will continue until the second week of May. University officials are closely monitoring the election announcement and have indicated that necessary adjustments will be made to the exam schedule if required.
