AHMEDABAD: Leading city cardiologistDr Tejas Patel received prestigious Dr BC Roy award from President PratibhaPatil on Tuesday marking Doctor's Day, in New Delhi.
Patel washonoured for his contribution towards developing and propagating trans-radialapproach of angiography and angioplasty in India and abroad wherein thesecardiac procedures are conducted through the route of arm instead of thegroin.
The Dr BC Roy award was given away to over 50 medical doctorsand scientists in five different categories for the years 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Dr Patel was the pioneer in popularising trans-radial approach ofconducting angiography and angioplasties. In fact, Dr Patel also has a 'PatelCatheter' named after him which helps conduct procedure with greaterfinesse.
He has also written a book titled 'Patel's Atlas ofTrans-Radial Intervention'.
