AHMEDABAD: The BJP Gujarat unit on Wednesday claimed that the party had taken control of the local bodies even in the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DNH). A statement issued by spokespersons Vijay Rupani and IK Jadeja said, "Even in the union territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli, which is under the control of the Centre and situated in the Gujarat boundary, the BJP has won eight of the 11 district panchayat seats while the Congress got only three."
The release went on to addthat even in the DNH village panchayats, the BJP won eight of the 11 grampanchayats while the Congress won only two.
The party leaders said,"The local bodies' elections in DNH were done by ballot papers and not EVMs.Like Gujarat, voters have completely rejected the Congress even in this unionterritory". The Congress, which suffered a humiliating defeat in the local selfgovernment bodies in the elections concluded recently, has been trying todeflect the issue by raising a hue and cry over tampering of EVMs.
