Arjun Modhwadi could get his statement recorded as witness today
AHMEDABAD: Senior Congress leader Arjun Modhwadia could remain present before the Ahmedabad crime branch to get his statement recorded in the alleged liquor party bribery case on Sunday.
Crime branch sources said they had summoned Modhwadia as he had alleged that Police Sub Inspector Chandrakala Jadeja of Satellite police station had demanded a bribe of Rs 11 lakh and accepted Rs 4 lakh for letting of women and weakening the case.
“Modhwadia had even released an audio clip which allegedly mentioning PSI Jadeja demanding bribe” said crime branch sources.
It is noteworthy that earlier this week Satellite police had raided a flat at Asawari tower in Satellite area and arrested 25 persons allegedly under the influence of liquor. The arrested included congress leader Arjun Modhwadia’s son Parth and also Varun Jain who threw the party on his birth day.
Following allegations of Modhwadia of bribe, city crime branch had registered a complaint against PSI Jadeja under the prevention of corruption act.
Crime branch sleuths had also tried to get voice samples of Jadeja on Saturday. However she was not available according to crime branch official.
Meanwhile another controversy erupted in the case when Arjun Modhwadia’s son Parth had alleged in an application submitted to the city police chief Shivanand Jha that their statements were not recorded by the investigators under video graphy.
However crime branch officials claimed that statements of 18 out of the 25 accused in the liquor party case and witnesses in the alleged bribery case were recorded under video graphy.
