Agra: On the second day of her visit to the temple town of Mathura, President
Droupadi Murmu on Friday met Premanand ji Maharaj at his ashram. During the day, she also inaugurated the ‘Nand Kishore Somani Oncology Block' at Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama Multi-Super-Speciality Hospital.
Addressing the event, President Murmu said, "The realisation of a strong and self-reliant India will only be possible through healthy citizens." She said the Ramakrishna Mission has demonstrated how a confluence of modern science and human compassion can work for the welfare of humanity.
She noted that cancer remains one of the most serious health challenges today, and timely detection, along with access to advanced treatment, can play a decisive role in saving lives. The President said the new facility, equipped with modern technology, would help ensure safe and effective treatment for patients.
Calling the inauguration in the "sacred land of Vrindavan" a matter of satisfaction, she said it would mark a milestone in the mission of human service. She described Vrindavan as a land of spirituality, devotion and the legacy of Lord Krishna.
Highlighting the role of Ramakrishna Mission, Murmu said the institution represents a confluence of spiritual consciousness and humanitarian service. "Love, service and compassion are the foremost paths to realise god," she said.
The oncology block is a dedicated cancer treatment facility with technologies such as TrueBeam with HyperArc, Halcyon with HyperSight, brachytherapy and radiotherapy CT simulation, along with modular operation theatres, chemotherapy units and specialised wards.
