AGRA: A 22-year-old constable of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) died after allegedly shooting himself in Agra district. The constable shot at the chin and also left a suicide note, according to the SHO.The new recruit, identified as Yogesh Sharma, of PAC 15th battalion belonged to 2018 batch constable. Sharma hailed from Palibharna village of Govardhan police jurisdiction in Mathura district.According to police, his body was found around 5:30 am in a trench at PAC compound which is used for constable training.Speaking to TOI on Thursday, commandant of PAC 15th battalion, Pramod Kumar said, “At 12:30 am, constable Yogesh Sharma, who was on night duty near PAC ground, took a loo break. His duty was supposed to get over by 1 am, but when he did not return to his post, a look out for him was initiated. After five hours of search, his body was found in a pool of blood at an exercise trench.”“At present, we don’t know the exact reason behind the death, as his parents too have no idea as to why Yogesh Sharma would kill himself. A brief inspection of his phone, recovered from the victim’s pocket, found that he was talking to someone before shooting himself.
Now, we are taking out call details to speak to the person with whom he made the final contact,” said the commandant.Station house officer of Tajganj, Anuj Kumar, said, “Yogesh Sharma was on night duty between 9 pm and 1 am. He was speaking to a woman before he shot himself. Prima facie, it looks he was depressed over his relationship with the woman. His body has been sent for autopsy and the service rifle used in the death has been seized.”“The victim shot at his chin and also left a suicide note, claiming that ‘he was killing himself’. But, no reason was mentioned,” the SHO added.
