Agra: A day after five members of a family were found dead in their house under mysterious circumstances in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district, the postmortem report of the deceased mentioned severe head injuries and strangulation marks on the woman's body, clear pressure marks on the necks of all three children, confirming death by strangulation. The autopsy said the man died due to electrocution.
SP (Rural) Suresh Chandra Rawat said, "The postmortem report hints that Manish Kumar (35) first hit his wife, Seema (32) with a heavy stone and strangled her with a rope. He then strangled their three children one by one and later touched a live wire to electrocute himself to death. Manish's hands showed burn marks, indicating electrocution. Seema had visible head injuries. A pestle (moosal) with bloodstains was recovered from the room. Postmortem findings revealed ligature marks on the children's necks."
Rawat said, "No FIR was filed, and only a General Diary Entry has been made in police records. We are investigating whether Manish was suffering from depression and was under psychological stress or influenced by any external factors. As far as occult practices are concerned, a local resident was taken into custody for questioning, but he was released."
Police said the killings took place between 3 am and 4 am Tuesday, following which Manish wrote multiple suicide notes and recorded a video before ending his life around 4.30 am. The video and suicide notes are being examined by forensic experts, said SP Rawat.
Police said Manish left behind suicide notes at four different locations -- on the wall of a room, on two separate loose pages, and in a diary. In the video, Manish spoke about ending his life and appealed that others should not be harassed because of his actions.
Writings on a wall reads: "Seema and I are committing suicide of our own will. Police should not bother anyone."
The postmortem was conducted on Tuesday and the report was handed over to police on Wednesday. The couple was cremated on Tuesday evening, while the three kids were buried, considering their young age. The last rites were performed by Rishabh, the 15-year-old son of Manish's elder brother Sudhir.
On Tuesday, Manish, his wife Seema, their two daughters Hunny (5) and Priyanshi (4), and their two-year-old son Pankaj were found dead in their house in Khapparpur village under Mahavan police station.
Manish is a farmer and owned around three bighas of ancestral land and did not have any loans. The two daughters were enrolled in a school. He got married eight years ago. His two brothers live separately in the same village.
