AGRA: A 50-year-old income tax official was found dead on the income tax office premises in Agra district on Thursday, with police suspecting it to be suicide.
Preliminary investigation indicates that he had been under stress and was undergoing medical treatment.
Inspector Suresh Chandra Maurya was found dead around 6pm after allegedly falling from the seventh floor of the Income Tax building in the city's Sanjay Place area in Hariparwat limits.
Maurya had arrived at the office around 6pm on his scooter and parked it in the building premises before heading upstairs. A security guard was present at the gate.
"After a while, officials and staff members came to know that Maurya had fallen from the seventh floor under suspicious circumstances," an official of the IT told TOI.
Police arrived and started an investigation.
Agra DCP city Sayed Ali Abbas said, "We received a PCR call at 7pm. A team reached the spot."
