Digital duty: Agra mom files cyber case againstinfluencer after kids watch obscene Insta reels
Agra: An alert mother in Agra set an example of "digital responsibility" by filing a police complaint against a social media influencer with around 4.5 million followers for allegedly spreading obscene content on Instagram. Rubi Tomar approached the cybercrime police station after her children, while watching reels on her mobile phone, were exposed to objectionable content. In her complaint, Rubi stated that she supplies Ayurvedic medicines in Agra, and one of her colleagues, Mannu Singh, noticed a video on Instagram of a city-based influencer, and alerted her. Later, when her children were viewing Instagram, that reel appeared again. She added: "They were seated next to me and I snatched the phone from them and went to the Instagram page and started browsing the content. I found that the reels were all similar -- obscene, vulgar and showing women in poor light."According to her, there were two Instagram IDs under the same name, and some videos had over a million views. "Such content is openly accessible. Watching these reels will corrupt the minds of our children and society," Rubi said.
She then decided to approach local cops."After the complaint, an FIR was registered under BNS section 296-B (obscene acts, songs in public places) and section 67 of IT Act," said ADCP Aditya Kumar Singh on Thursday, adding, "We're checking the details and investigating the matter."
