Agra: Two first-year DPharm students were killed after a speeding truck rammed into their motorcycle when they were returning home after a practical examination in UP’s Agra district on Saturday evening.
Akshay Kumar Gautam, 20, and Raj Dushyant Gautam,18, residents of Deo Khera village in Firozabad district, were studying at FH Medical College in Etmadpur, and were on their way back home when the incident occurred around 4pm.
Police took the students to SN Medical College for treatment, while the truck was seized. Etmadpur SHO Alok Singh said, “Akshay succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital, while Raj Dushyant died during treatment. The bodies were handed over to their families after postmortem.”
DCP Agra (West) Aditya told TOI, “An FIR has been filed at Etmadpur police station under BNS section 106(1) (causing death by negligence), 281 (rash driving) of BNS against the unidentified truck driver.”
A similar accident was reported last Dec when two third-year MBBS students of SN Medical College were killed in a road accident near the inter state bus terminus (ISBT) on NH-19 connecting Agra and Delhi when their bike was hit by an unidentified vehicle. An FIR was registered but no arrest has been made so far.
