16-year-old girl out to relieve herself raped in Mathura; 2 booked
AGRA: A case has been registered against two men for allegedly abducting and raping a 16-year-old girl in a village in UP's Mathura district.Police said the incident took place around 6.30pm on Friday when the Class 12 student had gone to a forest near her village with her younger brother.When she went ahead to relieve herself, one of the accused allegedly intercepted the girl, dragged her to a nearby field and assaulted her. Another youth allegedly joined in and also raped her. When she attempted to escape, the men allegedly tied her legs before fleeing after spotting a villager nearby.The survivor managed to free herself and returned home in distress. She narrated her ordeal to her mother the following day, after which the family approached the police on Sunday.Mathura SP (rural) Suresh Chandra Rawat said a case has been registered against the accused under section 64 (rape) of BNS and provisions of Pocso Act. "The girl has undergone a medical examination and her statement will be recorded as part of the investigation. Police teams have been deployed to locate and arrest the suspects," he said.(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
