Tripura BJP president named for Rajya Sabha
AGARTALA: BJP state president of Tripura, 55 –yrs old Rajib Bhattacharjee has been named as candidate for lone seat of Rajya Sabha on Tuesday for the election scheduled on Sept 3. Chief minister Manik Sarkar congratulated Bhattacharjee and thanked to BJP Chief J P Nadda and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for nominating him as Rajya Sabha member.He entered politics in the year 1991 after worked as an active swayamsevak of RSS for three years. In 1992, he became Mandal President of Banamalipur Mandal when Congress was ruling the state and communist emerged as the biggest force. SUnlike others, Bhattacharjee didn’t switch to any party in despite series of odds in 32 years of his career. During his tenure as General Secretary, BJP came to power with an astounding majority to serve the people of Tripura in 2018.He has also served as the chairman of Tripura Khadi and Village Industries Board. In August 2022, Bhattacharjee became president of the party succeeding Manik Saha after he posted as Chief Minister replacing Biplab Kumar Deb.
