Cash, Liquor, Drugs: EC Seizures Cross Rs 1,000 Crore In Poll-Bound Tamil Nadu And West Bengal
The Election Commission of India reported that poll-related seizures in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu have exceeded Rs 1,000 crore during ongoing assembly elections and bypolls. According to the Commission, enforcement agencies have seized inducements worth Rs 1,072.13 crore, including cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals and other freebies allegedly intended to influence voters. Tamil Nadu recorded higher seizures at Rs 599.24 crore, while West Bengal accounted for Rs 472.89 crore. The Commission said extensive monitoring systems have been put in place, including thousands of flying squads and static surveillance teams to ensure compliance with the Model Code of Conduct. It also stressed that citizens and political parties should report violations through the C-Vigil platform to support fair and transparent elections.
