Rahul Bajaj inducts son, son-in-law on company board

NEW DELHI: Bajaj Auto Ltd on Wednesdayinducted Sanjiv Bajaj and Manish Kejriwal — younger son and son-in-lawrespectively of Rahul Bajaj — as additional directors on the company''sboard.The move, analysts say, is aimed at strengthening the companyboard ahead of a final settlement in the feud between Rahul Bajaj and hisyounger brother Shishir (who controls Bajaj Hindustan).This alsocomes just months ahead of a crucial board meeting where current joint MD andthe elder son of Rahul Bajaj, Rajiv Bajaj, will take over as the company''s MD.Rahul Bajaj will step down as MD when his current five-year term ends on March31, 05, but will continue as executive chairman, sourcessaid.Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto announced that the current induction isaimed at strengthening the company board and is within the ceiling permitted bythe central government. The company has also inducted Tarun Das, former directorgeneral of CII, as an additional director.
