Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, has increased milk prices by Rs 2 per litre across India with effect from May 14 due to higher input and operational costs, PTI reported on Wednesday.
The price hike will apply to major fresh pouch milk variants and translates to an increase of around 2.5-3.5 per cent per litre.
“The price hike is being done due to an increase in the overall cost of operation and production of milk. There is a substantial increase in the cost of cattle feed, milk packaging film and fuel during the year,” GCMMF said in a statement.
The cooperative also said its member unions have raised farmers’ procurement prices by Rs 30 per kg of fat, marking a 3.7 per cent increase over May 2025 levels.
The previous milk price hike by Amul was implemented on May 1, 2025.
