Bani, at the age of 20, in 2006, first appeared on TV in the Chandigarh audition for the show Roadies Season 4 on MTV India Channel. She got selected and ended her Roadies journey as a runner up. After season 4 she got selected as the co-host for the next seasons of Roadies by the channel.

In 2008-09 Bani appeared in MTV Roadies season 6 for the first time as a host. Rannvijay co-hosted the season with her. She hosted 5 seasons of Roadies viz. 6, 7, 9, 10 and 12 respectively.

She had done two films in Bollywood. Her first movie experience was with Himesh Reshamiya in his film Aap ka Suroor in 2007. In 2011, she again appeared in a movie called Sountrack as a VJ. In 2016 there are two films released namely Zorawar (Punjabi) and Thikka (Telegu) where Bani J has appeared in a supporting role.

Along with Roadies Season 4, she appeared for two more reality shows, Khatron ke Khiladi (Fear Factor) Season 4 in 2011 and I Can Do That in 2015. She could not win either of the titles but was one of the top contestants.
