Lamborghini woos Indian entrepreneurs
BENGALURU: The raging bull is wooing first–time entrepreneurs into its supercar owners' club. Italian supercar maker Lamborghini is tapping new money to sell its hot wheels in India. “There are many successful first generation businessmen who are owners of Lamborghini in India" said Sharad Agarwal, head of Lamborghini India.
There is a strong base emerging of young customers and first generation, successful entrepreneurs, who have travelled abroad and have aspirations to own sports cars,” he added. The average age of the Indian buyer is 25-40 years who want to celebrate their success in style, he said.
Lamborghini, which competes with Ferrari and McLaren in the supercars segment, has strengthened its franchise with Huracan Spyder model that zips 0-100 kms/hour in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 324 kmph. Its retractable roof opens in just 17 seconds up to a driving speed of 50 kmph and costs Rs 3.89 crore (ex-showroom) Delhi.
The super luxury car segment is still nascent in India with merely 55 cars sold annually. Agarwal said the exclusive sports cars (ESS) has not grown to its potential in the country but he sees huge business upside for the category. "The demand for super sports cars has witnessed considerable change in the last four years. We have customers from tier 1 and 2 cities buying them. We have people in cities like Jaipur, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Coimbatore and Kochi as customers which shows the buying potential that needs to be unlocked."
Lamborghini is also looking to upgrade all its dealerships.
It currently has a car configurator at its dealerships in India that includes customisation from hand-stitched seat emblems and monograms to infotainment controls and screen trim. Customers can personalise their cars as per their lifestyle and preferences at Ad Personam studio in its factory at St’Agata, Italy.
