Volvo Car India today rolled out its first locally assembled luxury electric SUV, the XC40 Recharge from its Hoskote plant near Bengaluru. The company recently launched the Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV at a starting price of Rs 55.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Volvo Car India aims to become an all-electric company by 2030.

Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director of Volvo Car India flagged off the first XC40 Recharge from the plant in the presence of Pascal Kusters, Hoskote Plant Head.
The brand announced the commencement of its first locally assembled all-electric Volvo XC40 Recharge and today they witnessed the first car rolling off the assembly line at our Hoskote plant near Bengaluru, Karnataka, said Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Car India. Further, he said that it strengthens our commitment of offering the Indian market a new electric model every year.
“It is a new milestone reached at the Indian plant. With this roll out we have shown that Volvo Car is always committed to offering the best in technology and sustainable mobility solutions,” said Pascal Kusters, Volvo’s Car Plant Head.
Recently, Volvo India has introduced the new petrol mild-hybrid versions of the XC40, S90, XC60 and XC90 in India.
The Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV was launched at a price point of Rs 55.90 lakh (ex-showroom) a few months back. The company received 150 bookings within a few hours of opening the bookings, states the official release.
Powering the Volvo XC40 Recharge is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 48V battery, cumulatively churns out 197 hp power and 300 Nm torque. A 8-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox is on offer. The 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge mild hybrid now gets the blind spot information system (BLIS) with cross-traffic alert as an additional safety feature.
