The Madras High Court denied bail to a Chennai bike rider TTF Vasan in a case booked against him for rash riding on a public road. Vasan, a rider and a vlogger, was arrested on September 19 after a video of him performing stunts and losing control of the bike went viral on social media.
As seen in the CCTV footage, he performed a wheelie and was thrown off his bike on the service road of the Chennai-Vellore national highway, suffering minor injuries.
He didn’t sustain major injuries as he was wearing good quality safety gears. However, the police lodged a complaint against the rider and he was subsequently arrested.

Justice C.V. Karthikeyan of the Madras High Court denied bail to Vasan, observing that he had following on social media, and that his actions could encourage other youngsters to follow his actions.
The court in its judgment, observed “quite fortunately for others and unfortunately for the petitioner,” he alone had suffered an injury during the incident. “It is a lesson for him. Let him continue to be in custody,”.
It remains to be seen whether the Madras High Court will grant bail to Vasan at the next hearing. However, the incident has highlighted that the governing bodies in India are becoming more stringent with the
road safety laws as well as improving the vigilance.
On the other hand, the rider has escaped with minimal injuries due to the safety gears he was wearing during the crash, else, things would’ve gone the wrong way. Nevertheless, performing stunts and overspeeding on public roads is very risky and also a criminal offense.
