Mercedes-Benz E-Class launch Highlights: Price expectation, Design, interior, specifications and more
Good morning everyone, Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch the new 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class luxury sedan in the Indian market today i.e, October 9, 2024. The new E-Class features exterior upgrades and additional features. In terms of design, it gets a traditional Mercedes-Benz design with a large grille, sleek headlamps and a re-designed front bumper with large intakes. At the rear, it gets sharp and sleek LED taillights with a re-designed bumper and it also gets multi-spoke alloy wheels. The new E-Class will directly compete with BMW 5 Series and Audi A6 with prices expected to start from Rs 75 lakh (ex-showroom). Stay tuned to this for all the live updates.

2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class launch: Rear comfort
The rear seats recline up to 36 degrees which is slightly more than the previous model and it also gets an extendable thigh support, comfort neck pillows, quarter glass sun blinds, and electrically operated sun blinds controllable through the infotainment system. Like other recent models from the brand, the E-Class features Mercedes' Superscreen layout, which includes a 14.4-inch central screen, a 12.3-inch passenger screen, and a 12.3-inch instrument panel.

2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class launch: Safety
Regarding safety features, the new E-Class LWB includes standard Level 2 ADAS, and it’s the first made-in-India Mercedes-Benz to offer a front center airbag, bringing the total to eight airbags. Additionally, the Active Brake Assist system is now standard and can be adjusted to suit the customer's preferences, rather than reverting to default settings each time the vehicle starts.

2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class launch: Engine options for E450
The top-of-the-like E450 gets a bigger 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol that puts out 381hp and 500Nm torque. It gets a 48V mild-hybrid system and comes paired with a 9-speed torque converter automatic which sends power to all four wheels via 4-Matic system. Mercedes claims it can sprint from 0-100kph in 4.5 seconds.

The E220d gets a 2.0-litre,4-cylinder turbo diesel with 197 hp of power. This too gets 48V mild-hybrid system that provides an additional 23hp and 205Nm. Both petrol and diesel comes paired with a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox which sends power to front wheels.

2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class launch: Bookings and delivery
Interested customers can book the new E-Class online or by via their nearest dealership. Deliveries will begin this week for the E 200, with the E 220d starting from Diwali and the E 450 by mid-November. India is the only right-hand-drive market for the E-Class LWB, and this marks the second generation of the LWB version available here.

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will be offered in five colour options - Obsidian Black, High Tech Silver, Graphite Grey, Polar White and Nautic Blue. The bumper gets chrome elements which add a bit of contrast to the overall look.

2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class launch: Rear design
At the rear, the vehicle showcases new LED tail lamps featuring a tri-arrow pattern. Generous use of chrome accents both at the rear and along the window line enhances the design. The sedan gets multi-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels with 225/55 section tyres which looks good and proportionate.

The new E-Class stands out from its predecessor with a front design inspired by contemporary Mercedes EQ models. Highlights include a prominent chrome grille, featuring an oversized 3D logo flanked by numerous smaller three-pointed stars. The long bonnet retains its power domes, and the side profile closely resembles that of its predecessor. Notable updates include S-Class-style flush door handles and 18-inch wheels.

In terms of features, the sedan gets powered reclining rear seats with an ottoman function. In terms of features, the sedan gets three screens - a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system and another screen facing the front passenger. Other convenience features will include, ambient lighting, a sunroof, multi-zone climate control, leatherette seats, heated and cooled seats, wireless charging, massaging seats and much more.

Talking about the powertrain, the new E-Class get two engine options - a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 204 hp power and a 2.0-litre turbo diesel with 197 hp. Both engines get 48V mild-hybrid tech and come paired to a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox which sends power to front wheels. The new gen E-Class misses out on 6-cylinder diesel engine option and also does not get get air-suspension. The 48V mild hybrid systems additionally pushes out 23hp and 205Nm of torque.

The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class will be sold in LWB (long wheelbase format) and measures 5,092mm in length, 1,880mm in width, and 1,493mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3,094mm. The E-Class LWB looks largely the same as the standard version but due to increased length, the sedan gets an elongated rear door with a quarter glass positioned behind the rear door as opposed to being integrated into the rear door with the rear window.

The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class in its LWB format is expected to be priced from Rs 75 lakh (ex-showroom). The luxury sedan will directly compete with the BMW 5-Series LWB and Audi A6 sedan. Recently the production of the luxury sedan began at its Chakan plant and the deliveries will begin this festive season. India is also the only market where Mercedes-Benz sells the E-Class LWB in a right-hand drive layout.
