10 Lesser known facts about anchor turned director Ohmkar

Ohmkar Nuthalapati, popularly known as “Ohmkar Annayya” is a self-made star. After starting his career in the showbiz as a VJ, Ohmkar shot to fame with successful reality shows like ‘Aata, Challenge’, ‘Adrushtam et al’.

After taking the big leap to the tinsel town with the films, ‘Raju Gari Gadhi’ & ‘Raju Gari Gadhi2’, Ohmkar recently made a successful comeback on the small screen. His current show ‘Sixth Sense’ is quite popular among the viewers.

Here is a list of 10 lesser known facts about the anchor, conceptualiser, producer and director.

Ohmkar holds a medical degree in Physiotherapy and he reportedly practiced the discipline for nearly 4 years at a hospital in Nampally, Hyderabad.

Ohmkar’s father NV Krishna Rao was a well known doctor in Kakinada town. His father had a great influence in his life.

Realizing his penchant for being a celebrity at a very early age, Ohmkar wanted to pursue Cinema or cricket. But on his father’s advice, Ohmkar attained a Bachelors degree in Physiotherapy.

With the help of his father, Ohmkar reportedly went to visit a film set and closely observed the actors. But after that he continued working as a physiotherapist.

Watching the assistant directors and the work culture, Ohmkar concluded that he needs to adopt a different approach to accomplish his goal of becoming a director.

Ohmkar still continues to practice physiotherapy in close circles. Once he treated choreographer Raju Sundaram (who is also a judge of a reality show) for a sprain.

Ohmkar attributes the child participants in the reality game show Mayadweepam for his popular tag "Annayya”.

Ohmkar has two younger brothers Ashwin (who is an actor), Kalyan who also obtained Bachelors degree in Physiotherapy. His production house OAK Entertainments is named after the siblings. While Ashwin is an actor, Kalyan takes care of operations of the production house.

He approached big actors like Prabhudeva, Madhavan, Arjun for the ‘mentalist’ role in his ‘Raju Gari Madhi2’ movie before zeroing upon Nagarjuna Akkineni.
