NEW DELHI: Going back on its earlier decision, the BJP on Friday decided to field its chief ministerial candidates, Vasundhara Raje (Rajasthan) and Uma Bharati (Madhya Pradesh), from only one constituency each.
Earlier, the party had announced that Vasundhara would stand from two seats. It had also narrowed down the search for a second constituency for Uma to two seats.
On Friday, as nominations closed for the December 1 elections, the BJP dismissed as media speculation party spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi''s announcement on Thursday that Vasundhara would contest from both Jhalrapatan and Pilawa, both in her Lok Sabha constituency of Jhalawar.

He had said this decision had been taken as the state unit felt that it would have a "positive impact in the neighbouring assembly segments".
But on Friday, BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu said the party had decided that none of its candidates would contest from more than one Assembly seat and for this reason, even senior BJP leader Nand Kumar Sai would now contest from Marwahi while Bharat Sai, a relative, would be fielded from nand Kumar Sai''s own seat, Tapkara.
