‘Woke era is over’, says actress Justine Bateman after Trump’s election victory

Actress and director Justine Bateman expressed enthusiasm over Donald Trump's 2024 presidential win, viewing it as the end of the "woke era" and cancel culture. She believes Trump's victory, coupled with Elon Musk's transformation of Twitter into X, signifies a cultural shift away from political correctness and towards renewed innovation and free speech.

Actress and director Justine Bateman has expressed her excitement over Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election, believing that it marks the end of the “woke era.”
As per Fox News, Bateman explained that she sees Trump’s win as a victory over political correctness and the cancel culture that she feels has stifled free speech and creativity in recent years.
Bateman shared her belief that the “mob mentality” that fueled cancel culture no longer holds sway. She explained, “What I’m really excited about is that the political correctness, the sort of woke era, is over... you need mob mentality momentum in order to keep that going, and when Trump won, that cut that momentum off.”
She also linked the shift to what she described as a “spiritual change” that began when Elon Musk took over Twitter, transforming it into X, and accelerated with Trump’s return to office. According to Bateman, these events marked a new phase where society could move beyond the limitations imposed by political correctness and emotional hostility.
“Things haven’t been moving forward in the arts, in philosophy, in politics, in medicine... innovation has been stagnated for at least four years, and now that’s changed,” Bateman said. She argued that the focus on “mob mentality” has hindered innovation and limited freedom of expression, which she now believes is shifting toward a more open and dynamic future.
Bateman has long been an outspoken critic of AI technology, advocating for the rights of creative individuals, and is a staunch supporter of union rights. However, she refrained from discussing her stance on issues like AI exploitation, a point of divergence between her views and those of Trump, Musk, and Watters, with whom she shared the conversation.
While she did not disclose whether she voted for Trump, Bateman made it clear that her concerns were more about the cultural and spiritual implications of the political climate, rather than party politics.
She summed up her views by stating, “I feel that spiritually, there has been a shift, and I’m very excited about what is coming forth.” For Bateman, the election of Trump symbolizes the end of what she describes as "emotional terrorism," and the return of free speech for all.
