Kash Patel’s interview disrupted by on-air lighting adjustments, social media says 'Fox trying to make him look less Indian’
An interview with FBI Director Kash Patel on Fox & Friends had a brief moment of confusion after a technical mishap involving lighting adjustments was recorded on a live broadcast.
Patel was appearing on the show to discuss the role of US law enforcement in transporting Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro through New York, hours after his capture in Caracas during a secret US military op.
As co-host Brian Kilmeade introduced Patel, the FBI director appeared on screen under bright studio lights. Moments later, the lighting suddenly dimmed without warning. Patel remained composed and continued listening as Kilmeade moved into his first question. Everything was fine until a woman’s voice was heard loudly over the broadcast saying, “Guys, you cannot be adjusting his light!”
The unexpected dialogue confused viewers, but Patel did not respond to the interruption.
Ignoring the background noise, Patel began explaining the role of the FBI in safely moving Maduro through the city. As he spoke, Fox News cut away to B-roll footage showing a helicopter transporting the ousted Venezuelan leader.
Patel went on to praise President Donald Trump’s decision to authorise the operation and commended the personnel involved.
Mediaite later reported that the disruption was caused by a technical error linked to a mobile studio van being used for the live hit.
According to a network source cited by Mediaite, the operator of the van had left a phone on speaker at the start of the interview. When the feed was activated, audio from the phone leaked onto the live broadcast.
The problem was identified and resolved within seconds. Patel’s lighting was adjusted properly, and the interview continued smoothly for the remainder of the segment without further issues.
