Kamala Harris buys $8.15 million Malibu mansion – a look at the luxurious seaside property
Former vice president Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff have purchased a $8.15 million mansion in Malibu, California, reports the Daily Mail.
The property includeds four-bedrooms, six bathrooms and sits in the exclusive Point Dume neighbourhood. The area is known for its celebrity residents, including Gerard Butler, Owen Wilson and Julia Roberts.
The 4,000-square-foot property is just a few metres away from the beach, and it “blends modern luxury with natural beauty,” according to the listing. The main living area is “bathed in natural light” and features a gas fireplace and built-in speaker system, while the in-home office has “vaulted wood-beamed ceilings, skylights and French windows” with views of the nearby ocean.
The master suite includes a spacious closet, and the primary bathroom offers a freestanding soaking tub, rainfall shower and double vanities, “creating a spa-like atmosphere.” The kitchen is described as a “chef's dream” with a stone island and top-of-the-line Miele appliances, including a double oven, dishwasher, microwave and a large fridge-freezer.
Outside, the home offers a “private oasis” with a landscaped backyard, fireplace, TV, outdoor kitchen and dining area, as well as a sunken wet bar with stone counters, mini wet fridge and sink. A guest house sits on the property, alongside a pool, built-in jacuzzi, cold plunge, sauna and a private putting and chipping green. A converted garage now serves as a professional gym with mat flooring, mirrors, and French doors opening to a turf area.
“The estate offers refined luxury with every detail thoughtfully designed. Whether lounging by the pool or watching the sunset, this home is a sanctuary of sophistication and comfort,” the listing adds.
The sale was reported on 2 December 2025, coming as Harris and Emhoff already own a 3,500-square-foot home in Brentwood, purchased by Emhoff in 2012 for $2.7 million. The property, which has four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms, is now valued at $4.8 million, according to Zillow.
Previously, Harris lived in a $1.77 million two-bedroom apartment in Washington which she bought in 2017 after being elected to the Senate and sold for $1.85 million in 2021. While serving as VP, she resided at Number One Observatory Circle, the 9,150-square-foot historic residence that has hosted every Vice President since 1977. George HW Bush famously hosted 900 parties there during his tenure.
