Greenland grab: Nato secy general calls Trump, to meet US Prez; details of arctic call under wraps
Nato security general Mark Rutte spoke with US President Donald Trump over Greenland and the Arctic security concerns of the United States. Posting on X about his interaction, he said they will continue to work on the matter and that he will be meeting Trump in Davos later this week.
In his post, he said, "Spoke with POTUS regarding the security situation in Greenland and the Arctic. We will continue working on this, and I look forward to seeing him in Davos later this week.
Rutte did not reveal the details of the conversation he had with the US President on the matter.
Denmark, along with other Nato allies, has stood firm on their stance that the Arctic territory belongs to its people and they will decide its future relations.
Trump's renewed push to purchase Greenland for what he insists is crucial for the national security of the United States has garnered criticism from European nations. Trump has also threatened the European Union countries with imposing additional tariffs if they don't support his bid.
The US has already imposed a 10 per cent tariff on eight European countries, including Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Finland. This, as he claims, is a payback from nations like Denmark and the EU for the subsidies they have received so far.
He announced the tariffs with the claim that Russia and China would take over Greenland.
In his post on Truth on Saturday wrote, "We have subsidized Denmark, and all of the Countries of the European Union, and others, for many years by not charging them Tariffs, or any other forms of remuneration. Now, after Centuries, it is time for Denmark to give back — World Peace is at stake! China and Russia want Greenland, and there is not a thing that Denmark can do about it. They currently have two dogsleds as protection, one added recently. Only the United States of America, under PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP, can play in this game, and very successfully, at that!"

This focus on Greenland is just a ploy to divert the attention of the europe from Ukraine war temporarily, let Russia make some major gains, then focus back on ukraine and force an agreementRead allPost comment
