Are Trump and Netanyahu on same page? What US President said amidst rumors of rift with Israel PM
US President Donald Trump on Sunday denied reports of a rift with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling them 'fake news'.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said, "That was other fake news — I had an argument with Bibi. No. We really get along well. And he would tell you we're leading the whole thing. They can say it or not say it. It doesn't matter to me. My relationship with Bibi Netanyahu is extraordinary."
He added, "We really get along well. He would tell you we're leading the whole thing. He can say it not, the main thing is to get it done. My relationship with Bibi Netanyahu is, I would say extraordinary actually."
The remarks come as the United States and Israel continue their military operations against Iran, a conflict that has destabilized the Middle East and disrupted global markets.
According to officials, the bombardments have displaced over three million people and caused significant damage to infrastructure, while fuel prices worldwide continue to surge.
Earlier, the New York Times in a report stated that Trump and Netanyahu share short-term military goals which include the destruction of Iran’s missile systems, nuclear facilities, naval forces, and weapons production.
However, their long-term objectives appear to diverge. Trump has emphasized weakening Iran and pushing the country toward negotiations, while Netanyahu reportedly seeks regime change and the elimination of Iran’s regional influence.
At the same time, Trump faces domestic pressure. With midterm elections approaching, public support for the conflict remains low, with many Americans wary of a prolonged war.
Experts suggested that Trump may seek a quicker resolution once Iran’s military capabilities are sufficiently reduced, rather than pursuing full-scale regime change.
