PHILADELPHIA: A gunman opened fire on a block party in Philadelphia on Saturday night, leaving seven people injured, including two children, aged 2 and 10.
In another block party shooting, the Detroit police said one person was killed and nine were wounded on Saturday night when someone opened fire at a party on a basketball court. Lt John Walker of the Philadelphia police told WCAU television that the shooting happened about 10pm in West Philadelphia.
He said it looked as if the gunman had fired randomly down the street and hit anyone in the way .
Walker said both children were taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in critical condition, the younger one with a neck wound. He said the other victims, ranging from 15 to 25, were taken to another hospital in critical condition. He said it was “just a terrible situation.“ No other information was immediately available. In Detroit, assistant police chief Steve Dolunt said a 20-yearold man was killed.
Another man was critically injured, while five men and three women were listed as seriously injured.
The victims ranged in age from 21 to 46, he said.
