A shocking video of a Nigerian Twitch creator, Shank Comics, has swept the social media, plunging the audience into a tense situation barely real. In the video, the streamer is shown behind the wheel driving at a high speed with the livestream on but then he loses control and hits a road obstacle. Another moment the screen becomes black. On the reappearance of the visuals, smoke covers the screen, leaving the audience shocked and wondering how things had gone such notch higher.

What is more scary about the video is that it was so close to being a tragedy. One such person, who happened to be in the line of the fast moving car, was lucky to escape without getting injured. That reaction of one second could have helped to avoid much more serious result. The clip did not simply go viral as it was spreading across platforms. It sparked a frenzy of outrage, worry and somber discourse concerning the role of influencers in real time who film risky acts.

Online reactions were swift and unforgiving. Many viewers called for strict action, with one user stating, "he should serve at least six months in jail and his license should be suspended." Another added, "he should be brought in for questioning for endangering his life like that."

The outrage continued to build, with comments like "He should be charged to court for reckless driving" and "These guys should be arrested and prosecuted. As pressure mounted, Shank Comics addressed the situation. He clarified that the incident happened five months ago and expressed regret over his actions. He also claimed the clip’s recent circulation was part of a targeted campaign against him. Despite the explanation, the damage to public perception had already been done.



The platform itself did not stay silent. Twitch reinforced its stance, stating, "Twitch’s Community Guidelines strictly prohibit dangerous or distracted driving. For creators, this includes removing your eyes from the road to interact with your stream or violating local traffic laws. When our safety teams identify violations of these rules, they take swift and appropriate enforcement action."
