“I used to struggle”: Kai Cenat turns trolls into motivation with controversial “hate wall” reveal
After months of silence from one of the biggest names in streaming, Kai Cenat has finally told fans what has been going on behind the scenes while he was away from Twitch. The well-known creator came back with a YouTube video that gave an unexpected look into how he felt about both success and criticism while being in the public eye.
Cenat’s absence had sparked countless questions among fans who were used to seeing him stream regularly. Following the massive success of his “Mafiathon 3” event, the AMP star stepped away from the platform and spent time traveling and focusing on personal projects. During that break, he quietly launched a separate YouTube channel called Kai’s Mind, where he began experimenting with self improvement content and creative ideas outside his usual streaming format.
In his latest video, Cenat revealed a striking visual reminder of the criticism he has received throughout his career. Behind his desk sat what he described as a “hate wall,” covered with printed negative comments from viewers and critics. The concept, according to Cenat, is not meant to dwell on negativity but to transform it into motivation.
“I want to show you guys the power to embrace hate,” Kai said in his March 7 upload, showing off tonnes of negative comments plastered behind a workstation.
Rather than ignoring the criticism, Cenat explained that confronting it directly helped him grow. At one point in his career, public opinion weighed heavily on him. The wall now serves as a reminder to stay focused and keep improving.
“I used to struggle with caring about what people thought, so, I got a hate wall of all the hate that I received to motivate me even more.”
He added that the harsh comments now fuel his ambition to keep building bigger projects. Instead of slowing him down, the negativity has become a source of drive and creativity.
People who watched the video had different reactions. Some people said the idea was a great way to turn criticism into motivation. Some people noticed that not all of the comments on the wall were bad; some were supportive messages that got mixed in with the harsher ones.
While Cenat has remained mostly off Twitch during this period, he has hinted that his return may not be far away. In conversations with fellow AMP member Fanum, the streamer suggested he might briefly end his hiatus to join an AMP game night featuring Fall Guys. For now, though, his focus appears to remain on personal growth, creative experimentation, and preparing for whatever comes next in his career.
