Major disruption at Channel Tunnel: Eurostar cancels all services; chaos erupts at train stations
Eurostar canceled all its train services after major disruption in the Channel Tunnel caused widespread delays and cancellations on Tuesday. The operator said services were severely affected by a problem with the overhead power supply in the tunnel, compounded by a failed Le Shuttle train. In a statement on its website, Eurostar said: “We strongly advise all our passengers to postpone their journey to a different date,” adding that trains still running could face severe delays and last-minute cancellations.

National Rail issued similar advice, warning that journeys between London St Pancras International and Paris Gare du Nord were likely to be disrupted throughout the day. Several services in both directions were cancelled by late afternoon. The disruption comes during one of the busiest travel periods of the year, between Christmas and New Year. Eurostar operates services linking London with Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam.Le Shuttle, which carries vehicles between Folkestone and Calais, also reported long delays of up to three-and-a-half hours on the UK side and around two hours in France.
