Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin appointed Thursday a new election commission headed by AMM Nasir Uddin amid growing pressure for early national polls, reports Ahsan Tasnim.
While Nasir leads the panel as CEC, retired additional secretary Anwarul Islam Sarkar, retired district and sessions judge Abdur Rahmanel Masud, retired joint secretary Begum Tahmida Ahmed, and Brig Gen Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah (Retd) are election commissioners.
Nasir, who has served as secretary in three ministries, said, "I aspire to gift the nation a free, fair, and credible election that upholds people's right to vote."
