Pakistan's Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has said the use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) "un-Islamic", siding with the govt to take any step to block access to "immoral and blasphemous" content.
VPN is used by millions of Pakistani internet users, especially after the government banned Musk's X. CII said restricting access to unethical material aligns with the principles of Islam, and use of VPNs to bypass curbs is impermissible under Islamic Law.
