in the garrison city of Rawalpindi on Tuesday, a day after he was arrested following his conviction in a graft case related to ownership of a steel mill in Saudi Arabia.


Sharif was taken to Lahore in custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Pakistan's anti-corruption watchdog, via a special chartered flight. A large number of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers gathered outside Adiala and Kot Lakhpat prisons to greet him.

Home secretary of Punjab Captain (retd) Fazeel Asghar said a B-class (better class) room has been allotted to Sharif at Kot Lakhpat Jail. The better class prisoners are provided with a mattress, a study table, a chair, TV set and a newspaper. At Lahore prison, the home secretary said, Sharif has been provided with a helper and will also be allowed food from home.
