Syrians celebrate Assad's fall

Thousands of Syrians came to streets and celebrated at the capital’s largest square. The gatherings were a major symbolic moment for the dramatic change of power in Syria, nearly a week after insurgents swept into Damascus, ousting the Assad-led state.

“I invite them to head to the squares to show their happiness without shooting bullets and scaring people,” he said.

Mohamed al-Bashir appointed caretaker prime minister

Mohamed al-Bashir was appointed as Syria's caretake prime minister on Tuesday after the rebels toppled Assad's government. He will continue to be in this role until March 1, 2025.


He has called for peace and order in the nation following his appointment. "Now it is time for this people to enjoy stability and calm," said Bashir in an interview.

India evacuates 77 citizens

India has evacuated all its citizens from Syria who wished to return home after rebel forces overthrew Assad's govt.


"We have evacuated all Indian nationals in Syria who wished to return home following recent developments in that country. So far, 77 Indian nationals from Syria have been evacuated," EAM spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Friday.
