US-Israel-Iran War Highlights: '14-hour talks conclude', Iran says dialogue with US to continue with expert texts

Iran War Ceasefire News: Delegations from US and Iran arrived in Islamabad, Pakistan on Saturday to hold peace talks over the ongoing war in Middle East. Iranian delegation led Parliament speaker Bagher Ghalibaf, comprising 71 member including country's top diplomat Abbas Araghchi, landed in Pakistani capital early in the day. Where as US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, along with Jarred Kushner arrived in the noon. American delegation is being led by US vice president JD Vance.

The fragile ceasefire between Iran and the United States is under mounting strain as military activity and regional tensions continue to escalate. Israeli strikes in Lebanon have emerged as a key flashpoint, with more than 300 people reported killed in the deadliest day of fighting, raising questions over whether the truce applies to Hezbollah.

Although Trump in a media interview said that Netanyahu is going to "scale-back strikes".

Iran has warned of “strong responses” if attacks on its ally persist, while maintaining a firm grip over the Strait of Hormuz — a chokepoint for global energy supplies. Shipping through the strait remains far below normal levels, heightening concerns about oil flows and global markets.

The conflict’s spillover effects are increasingly visible across the Gulf. Kuwait has reported drone strikes on key facilities, attributing them to Iran and its proxies, though Tehran has denied involvement. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has acknowledged damage to critical oil infrastructure, including pipelines that bypass Hormuz, signalling risks to energy security.

Diplomatic efforts are intensifying but remain uncertain. Talks between US and Iranian officials are expected in Islamabad, while Israel has indicated willingness for negotiations with Lebanon in Washington. Even as leaders express cautious optimism, both sides continue to assert battlefield gains, complicating the path to a durable agreement.

With military, economic, and geopolitical pressures converging, the ceasefire appears increasingly fragile, leaving the region on edge.

US Iran war: US, Iran prepare for high-level talks as Israel, Hezbollah trade more fire

With the ceasefire in Iran still shaky, US Vice President JD Vance headed Friday to Pakistan for high-level talks with Iranian officials, as Israel and Hezbollah traded fire and Tehran maintained its stranglehold on the Strait of Hormuz.

Many issues could derail the truce and the negotiations aimed at making a broader deal to stop the fighting permanently.

Iran's semiofficial Tasnim news agency, close to the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, claimed that the talks set for Saturday would not happen unless Israel stopped its attacks in Lebanon.

And US President Donald Trump said on his social media platform that Iran has no leverage except to restrict ship traffic in the strait, through which 20 per cent of the world's traded oil once passed.

Kuwait, meanwhile, said it was targeted by seven drone attacks since Thursday that it blamed on Iran and its militia allies in the region. Though the Guard denied launching any assault, it has carried out attacks across the Mideast in the past that it did not claim.

Preparations for the talks between Iran and the US appeared to be moving forward, with Vance boarding Air Force Two for the long flight to Islamabad.

Elsewhere, negotiations between Israel and Lebanon were expected to begin next week in the US capital, according to a US official and a person familiar with the plans, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the delicacy of the matter.

Israel Iran war: Lebanon says death toll from Israeli strikes on Wednesday rises to 357
Lebanon's health ministry said Friday that the death toll from Israeli strikes across the country two days earlier was 357, up from a previous count of 303, while it said 1,223 more people were wounded.

"The toll is still not final, due to the ongoing removal of rubble and the presence of a large amount of human remains" requiring DNA testing, the ministry statement said, after Israel's massive strikes on Wednesday.

The ministry also raised the overall toll in Lebanon since war erupted between Israel and Hezbollah on March 2 to 1,953 dead and 6,303 wounded.

Iran war news: Kuwait says drone attack wounded National Guard members
Kuwait's defence ministry said on Friday that several members of its National Guard have been wounded, after the country's air defences responded to a drone attack the previous day.

The Gulf countries have been targeted by hundreds of Iranian missiles and drones since the beginning of the war, which was triggered by Israeli-US strikes on Iran on February 28.

Kuwait's defence ministry said in a statement that "Iranian aggression" had targeted several vital installations belonging to the National Guard, injuring some members.

It said they were receiving treatment and were in stable condition.

It added that the armed forces had "detected and intercepted, over the past 24 hours, seven hostile drones in Kuwaiti airspace".

The National Guard specified on X that some of its members had been wounded "in the line of duty at one of their sites" while others were wounded "while taking part in extinguishing a fire started by the drone attack".

It had said on Thursday that the attack targeted one of its sites and caused "significant damage".

In a statement, the group said its fighters fired a barrage of rockets at Avivim around 1:30 pm local time, calling it retaliation for what it described as repeated Israeli violations of the ceasefire and continued attacks on southern Lebanese villages.

Hezbollah also claimed that earlier, at about noon, it targeted the Kiryat Shmona barracks with a squadron of attack drones.

The group said the operations were conducted “in defense of Lebanon and its people,” asserting that while it had complied with the ceasefire, Israel had continued military actions.

'Invested in Lebanon's peace, security': India reacts to Israeli attacks on Lebanon
India voiced serious concern over the growing number of civilian casualties in Lebanon, as Israeli strikes continue despite a two-week ceasefire aimed at ending the month-long conflict in West Asia, stressing that protecting civilians remains its top priority.

Speaking at an inter-ministerial briefing in New Delhi, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the situation as “very disturbing,” underscoring India’s longstanding commitment to peace and stability in the region. He also noted that around 1,000 Indian nationals are currently residing in Lebanon.

"We are deeply concerned by reports of a large number of civilian casualties that have been reported in Lebanon. As a troop-contributing country to United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL)--which is invested in Lebanon's peace and security--the trajectory of events is very disturbing," Jaiswal said.

US Iran War: Controlled movement, alternate routes, crypto tolls - Strait of Hormuz under new order
Transit through the Strait of Hormuz has come under severe restriction, with Iran reportedly capping movement at fewer than 15 vessels per day, effectively slowing one of the world’s busiest energy corridors. The new system replaces earlier open maritime movement with a strict clearance mechanism overseen by Iran’s IRGC, requiring prior approval for all ships.

The reduced flow has caused a backlog of tankers in the Gulf, with shipping companies warning that even a temporary increase in traffic would not quickly normalise operations. Analysts say the approval process remains unclear, with some vessels reportedly being turned back even after clearance.

Shipping routes have also been altered, with vessels directed closer to Iranian-controlled waters under security supervision, officially due to concerns over naval mines. At the same time, ships face warnings that unauthorised transit could be targeted, further discouraging normal movement.

Iran is also reported to be considering transit fees, potentially payable in cryptocurrency, a move seen as an attempt to bypass sanctions. This proposal has drawn criticism from global maritime authorities, which say it lacks legal basis under international law.

The tightening controls have increased legal, financial, and insurance risks, keeping major shipping firms cautious. War-risk premiums remain high, and operators are delaying full-scale resumption of routes.

Given the strait’s importance — handling around 20 per cent of global oil trade — the disruption has already triggered oil price volatility, supply chain stress, and global market uncertainty.

Overall, the Strait of Hormuz has shifted from a neutral global shipping lane to a heavily regulated, security-controlled corridor, with significant implications for global energy flows.

The source told Tasnim: “The news from some media outlets that an Iranian negotiating team has arrived in Islamabad, Pakistan, to negotiate with the Americans is completely false.”

Iran US War: Kuwait condemns drone attacks on vital facilities, Iran denies involvement
Kuwait condemned what it described as drone attacks by Iran and its proxies targeting vital facilities in the country on Thursday evening, calling the strikes a violation of its sovereignty and airspace, the foreign ministry said.

Earlier on Thursday, Kuwait’s state news agency reported that a National Guard site was targeted by drones, causing significant material damage but no injuries.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards denied launching any attacks on Gulf countries during the ceasefire period, saying on state media that any such action would be publicly acknowledged in an official statement.

Meanwhile, Kuwait said the strikes undermined recent US–Iran ceasefire efforts and reserved the right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and stability.

Since the start of the US-Israel conflict with Iran, Gulf states have reported a series of missile and drone incidents, with security risks across the region remaining elevated as the ceasefire continues to hold tenuously.

Seoul said the discussions will focus on regional developments and ensuring the safety of its nationals, vessels and crew, as well as broader maritime access.

Iran War: Strait of Hormuz ‘not open’, says UAE oil chief
Sultan Al Jaber, head of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, has warned that the Strait of Hormuz is effectively restricted, citing growing geopolitical tensions involving Iran.

“The Strait was not built, engineered, financed or constructed by any state,” Al Jaber said, adding that access is now influenced by “conditions and political leverage.”

“This moment requires clarity. So let’s be clear: the Strait of Hormuz is not open. Access is being restricted, conditioned and controlled,” he said Thursday on LinkedIn.

Al Jaber stressed that global energy security depends on restoring unrestricted access to the waterway.

“The weaponization of this vital waterway, in any form, cannot stand. This would set a dangerous precedent for the world – undermining the principle of freedom of navigation that underpins global trade and, ultimately, the stability of the global economy,” he added.

Iran has maintained that passage “will be possible via coordination with Iran’s Armed Forces and with due consideration of technical limitations.”

Industry experts and shipping executives say uncertainty around the ceasefire continues to make transit risky, with Iran still effectively controlling movement through the strait and no clear framework yet for safe passage.

Iran US War: Australia rules out offensive role in Iran war, despite US pressure
Australia has ruled out taking on an offensive military role in the Iran conflict, with Acting Prime Minister Richard Marles rejecting calls from former leader Tony Abbott.

Abbott had argued in a newspaper column that Canberra should support the United States with air force capabilities, including strike fighters.

However, Marles said Australia’s involvement remains limited, noting that a surveillance aircraft has been deployed to the United Arab Emirates but stressing it is “not part of this conflict against Iran.”

“We will act in our national interest and we respectfully disagree with the position of Mr. Abbott,” Marles told the Australian Broadcasting Corp.

Donald Trump has repeatedly criticised Australia for not backing Washington in the war, though Canberra maintains it has received no formal request for assistance.

US Iran War: Trump slams right-wing commentators who oppose Iran war
“They're stupid people, they know it, their families know it, and everyone else knows it, too!” Donald Trump wrote in a nearly 500-word social media post.

The president’s remarks were aimed at a group of prominent conservative commentators-turned-podcasters, including Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly, along with Candace Owens and Alex Jones.

All four have been sharply critical of Trump’s handling of the war, accusing him of abandoning his anti-war campaign stance and, to varying degrees, suggesting he acted under pressure from Israel in deciding to launch the conflict.
1 More Updates
Tensions remain high around Iran despite a fragile two-week ceasefire with the United States, as fresh Israeli strikes and regional spillovers threaten to derail diplomatic efforts. Heavy bombardment in Lebanon, the deadliest day since the conflict began, has intensified uncertainty over whether the truce extends to Hezbollah, with Iran warning of “strong responses” if attacks continue.

Although Trump in a media interview said that Netanyahu is going to "scale-back strikes".

At the same time, Tehran continues to exert control over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil route, where shipping traffic remains sharply reduced. Concerns over maritime security have grown amid reports of disruptions and threats to energy infrastructure across the Gulf.

Regional tensions are widening. Kuwait has accused Iran-linked actors of drone attacks, while Saudi Arabia reported damage to key oil facilities, raising fears of supply shocks and market volatility.

Diplomatic efforts continue, with talks expected in Islamabad and potential Israel-Lebanon negotiations in Washington. However, competing claims of victory from both Washington and Tehran, coupled with ongoing military activity, underscore the fragility of the ceasefire and the risk of a broader regional escalation.
