JEDDAH:
Saudi Arabia has expressed "happiness" over India’s decision to lift the anti-dumping duty it had imposed on the export of its polypropylene.
New Delhi had in November 2010 approved anti-dumping duty at the rate of 6.5% on imports of polypropylene from Saudi Arabia stating that it was sold for less than cost price.
India imposed the duty (ranging from 6 to 16%) on Sadui petrochemical exporters like "SABIC", “Advanced” and “National Industrialization” that export polypropylene to the country.
Welcoming India’s decision to revoke the anti-dumping duty, Saudi Arabia said that that there are many common areas of interest between the two countries which are more important than the anti-dumping duty.
However, it denied any deal on the issue and said there was no promise of any Saudi investments in India in return.
