Israel Iran Ceasefire Live Updates: Evacuation flight brings 173 Indians from Iran home; over 4,400 rescued so far
Israel Iran Ceasefire Live: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed a “historic victory” over Iran following a 12-day conflict, despite a leaked US intelligence report suggesting American strikes only delayed Iran’s nuclear programme by a few months. The conflict, the most intense direct confrontation between Israel and Iran to date, ended with a US-brokered ceasefire. The truce followed US President Donald Trump’s deployment of bunker-busting bombs against Iranian nuclear sites, a move he claimed crippled Tehran’s nuclear capability. However, the classified assessment indicated key underground facilities were not destroyed. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the report as “flat-out wrong”.Netanyahu insisted Israel had thwarted Iran’s nuclear ambitions, vowing to act decisively against any future attempts. While Iran denied pursuing nuclear weapons, it agreed to halt retaliation if Israel stopped its airstrikes. Iranian President Pezeshkian expressed openness to renewed negotiations while affirming Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy. The ceasefire was facilitated through back-channel diplomacy involving Qatar. Trump, seeking a broader peace deal, portrayed the outcome as a major success. Yet scepticism remains, with France warning Iran might pursue covert enrichment. Meanwhile, Israel signalled it would refocus efforts on Gaza, prompting calls for a complementary ceasefire there.
