5th India-China Strategic Economic Dialogue held

BEIJING: Officials from India and China on Saturday explored the possibility of aligning the ‘Make in India Initiative’ and ‘Made in China 2025’ in different sectors of economy.

At the same time, Indian officials led by Rajiv Kumar, vice-chairman of NITI Aayog, put on record New Delhi’s oft-repeated concerns about the rising trade imbalance because China was unable to make good use of the huge untapped potential of India’s exports. The key challenge for India was extremely limited market access in China, Indian officials maintained.

From the Chinese side, the meeting was led by He Lifeng, chairman of Development and Reform Commission. The meeting between the officials of the two countries was organised as part of the 5th

.

The meeting discussed business partnership in a range of areas as officials from Indian ministries of New and Renewable Energy, Railways, Housing and Urban Affairs, and Electronics and Information Technology were present. It was also attended by officials from Indian industry and autonomous bodies.
