K-dramas like 'Crash Landing on You' that will give you butterflies: 'Goblin', 'Descendants of the Sun' and more

Some love stories don't just make you feel warm; they wreck you completely and then put you back together. Korean dramas have mastered the art of making you laugh, sob, and hold your breath all in the same episode. The best part is that every single one of these is sitting on Netflix waiting for you, so clear your weekend, keep the tissues close, and prepare to feel everything. Here are seven K-dramas that will have you watching till 3am with absolutely zero regrets.

2/8

'Goblin' (2016)

Equal parts fantasy, romance, and slow-burning heartbreak, 'Goblin' follows a 939-year-old immortal warrior cursed to wander the earth until his destined bride pulls the sword from his chest and finally lets him rest. Gong Yoo plays the goblin with a quiet, aching vulnerability that is impossible not to fall for, while Kim Go-eun as the bright and cheerful Eun-tak brings a warmth that makes every scene between them feel electric. Lee Dong-wook as the Grim Reaper adds a whole second love story that hits just as hard.

3/8

'Descendants of the Sun' (2016)

A sweeping military romance set against the backdrop of a fictional war zone, 'Descendants of the Sun' follows a special forces officer and an army doctor whose paths keep crossing in the most dangerous and unexpected places. Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo had a chemistry so undeniable that the nation watched their real-life romance unfold with the same intensity as the show itself. It is the kind of drama that makes your heart race and then absolutely shatter, sometimes within the same episode.

4/8

'My Love from the Star' (2013)

One of the most beloved K-dramas ever made, 'My Love from the Star' tells the story of an alien who landed on Earth 400 years ago and has been quietly living among humans ever since, only to fall hopelessly in love with his neighbour three months before he is finally supposed to go home. Kim Soo-hyun's restrained, centuries-old loneliness makes every small moment of warmth feel enormous, and Jun Ji-hyun as the hilariously self-absorbed yet deeply lovable Cheon Song-yi is one of the greatest rom-com characters ever written.

5/8

'Business Proposal' (2022)

Light, fizzy, and completely addictive, 'Business Proposal' follows a woman who goes on a blind date disguised as her friend to scare the man off, only to discover he is her CEO and he wants to marry her on the spot to get his grandfather off his back. Ahn Hyo-seop and Kim Se-jeong are an absolutely irresistible pair, and the show moves at such a delicious pace that you will inhale all sixteen episodes faster than you thought possible. It is pure joy from start to finish.

6/8

'It's Okay to Not Be Okay' (2020)

A more emotionally layered drama than most on this list, 'It's Okay to Not Be Okay' follows a community health worker at a psychiatric ward and a famous but cold children's book author who slowly and painfully learn to heal each other's oldest wounds. Kim Soo-hyun and Seo Ye-ji have an intense, almost magnetic pull between them, and the show weaves dark fairytale imagery throughout in a way that feels genuinely unlike anything else in the genre. It will make you feel deeply seen.

7/8

'Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha' (2021)

A gentle, cosy, and completely charming small-town romance, 'Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha' follows a perfectionist dentist who leaves her city life behind and opens a clinic in a sleepy seaside village, where she keeps bumping into a cheerful, helpful man who seems to do every odd job in town, but nobody knows his real story. Shin Min-a and Kim Seon-ho have the kind of easy, warm chemistry that makes you want to live inside the show, and the entire village cast feels like a family you never want to leave.

8/8

'Twenty-Five Twenty-One' (2022)

A bittersweet coming-of-age love story set against the backdrop of South Korea's 1998 financial crisis, 'Twenty-Five Twenty-One' follows two young people who find each other during one of the hardest periods of their lives and build something beautiful, even as the world keeps getting in the way. Kim Tae-ri and Nam Joo-hyuk are stunning together, and the show handles nostalgia, first love, and the passage of time with such honesty and tenderness that the ending will stay with you long after the credits roll.
