Everything happened organically & the love has been magical: Udit Arora
Kanpur lad Udit Arora has finally got engaged to the love of his life Shirin Bismillah in Delhi recently. However, the love story of this Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo actor has been quite filmy. “She was studying with my sister in Delhi while I was in my college there in the year 2014. I used to meet her quite often, and at that time also I used to like her. But I didn’t tell her anything and came to Mumbai, and uss time baat aage badh nahi paayi,” he says, adding, “Then after some time we again came in touch through Instagram in 2018. I still used to like her but never expressed my feelings as we were living two different lives.”
By that I mean I was in Mumbai while she was juggling between Delhi and Hawaii. She belongs to a literary family where her father is a well-known writer, Abdul Bismillah. A year back, I somehow gathered the courage and expressed my feelings for her. Everything happened organically and the love has been magical.”
Ask him why it took so much time to express his feelings for her and he says, “I was not that expressive ever with my feelings but then I realized why not? I one day wondered why I am not expressing my feelings to her when I like her so much? Of course, I used to flirt with her while we would talk and give her hints but never professed my love. I was scared to do that because I wasn’t sure how she will take that. Ever since we expressed our love for each other, ours has been a long-distance relationship as Shirin is completing her PhD from London. Ours is a very old school type of romance and we both are like that. Although we have been living quite different lives, yet we are quite like each other in many ways. Since I am from the entertainment industry, she had a very different view of me and my work and a general assumption of the glamour industry. When she heard about the industry from me, she realized that there is a lot of hard work behind the glamour part too (smiles).
Any plans of taking it to another level and getting hitched, we wonder? “Marriage has to wait for a while. We will be waiting for some time as Shirin will be completing her PhD in 2026. We are in no rush. We got engaged as we wanted our families to come together and make our bond solid,” says Udit.
Making a career as an actor was not just a chance for Udit, and in fact acting is something that flows in his blood. “My father, Praveen Arora is also a seasoned actor. He has acted and directed many plays. He has also acted in films like Bullett Raja and Grahan. From childhood I got exposed to the world of acting because of my father. My sister Aditi Arora is also an NSD pass out. So, we all are into acting and this is just because the family had an environment that was quite supportive towards acting,” he says.
